Obituary for Carson Simerly

Carson  Simerly
Carson Stanley Simerly, 68, of Bristol, Va., passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018. Born in Russell County, Va., on December 15, 1949, he was the son of the late Otis C. and Beulah Johnson Simerly. He served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict and retired from Environmental Air Systems in Greensboro, N.C. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Wilma Hall and Patty Hess and brothers, Curtis, Jessee, Theodore and Sidney Simerly.

Survivors include his sisters, Lucille Lampkin, Betty Kirkpatrick and Ron McAlister, all of Bristol, Bonnie Ferguson and husband Harry of Lebanon, Va., Vicky Hall and husband Jim of Coeburn, VA., Jennifer Cook and husband Coz, Kim Hoffnung and husband Jack all of Bristol, Tenn., Carol Steffey and husband Mike of Honaker, Va.; brother, Gary Simerly and wife Cindy of Mass.; step-mother. Alma Simerly of Honaker; longtime friend, E.C. Poe; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2018, in the Owens Funeral Service chapel with Rev. Danny Rhea officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018, at Russell Memorial Cemetery in Lebanon with military graveside rites conducted by the Lebanon VFW Post 9864.
