Conley Earl Honaker was born September 18, 1943, in Richlands, Va. On Tuesday, June 26, 2018, Jesus came by and reunited him with his wife, Retha, and oldest son, Sammy.
Earl was a friend to many, always up for conversation. He had a love for all things outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and even yard work. He enjoyed working on vehicles and anything mechanical, retiring from the VDOT, Lebanon Shop, as a mechanic in 1999. He had a stubborn streak and a sense of humor.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Retha Jean (Sykes) Honaker; oldest son, Sammy Earl Honaker; parents Conley Lee Honaker and Virginia Victoria Yates Honaker; brother Kenneth Honaker.
Survivors include a son, Steven Conley Honaker and wife Sherry of Pilgrim’s Knob, Va.; daughter, Sandra Childress and husband Kevin of Amherst, Va; one grandson, Luke Childress of Amherst, Va. He is also survived by his sister, Edith Hess and husband Chester; his brother, Fred Honaker; and his sister-in-law Lula Honaker, all of Honaker, Va.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2018, in the Owens Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Virgil Musick officiating.
The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home one hour before the service.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Ketron Memorial Gardens in Lebanon.
Honorary pallbearers will be his friends and neighbors who were dear to him; Larry Null, Brett Edmonds, James Chafin, Larry “Jimmy” Null Jr., Jack Blankenship, Noah “June” Rasnake, Donnie Rasnake, Tommy Mills, James “Mousie” Duty and Robbie Campbell.
