Jimmie Johnson, 80, of Rosedale, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 8, 2018, surrounded by his family, after a courageous thirty-one year battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born in Wilder, Va., on February 20, 1938, he was the son of the late Elbert and Ruby Cook Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia Kay Waters and three brothers, Leon Johnson, Don Johnson and Harmon Gray Johnson.
Cherished by his family, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Survivors include his devoted wife of sixty-five years, Irene Dye Johnson; children, Jeff Johnson and wife Rachel, Mayola Salyers and husband Cecil, Wayne Johnson and wife Debbie, Wanda Combs and husband Kevin, Wilma Taylor and Rex Johnson, eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Powers; brother, Freddie Johnson and wife Ella Mae; sister-in-law, Pat Johnson; aunts, Ocie Sutherland, Gay Chaffin, Mickey Stinson and Larcie Hess ; a special canine companion, Baby Bella; special caregiver, Mary Compton and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, in the Ketron Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Lebanon, Va. with James Dye Sr. and Brother Lee Burke officiating.
