Mr. James Kent Musick Sr., age 91, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away on Thursday morning, April 18, 2019. Born on March 30, 1928, in Russell County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Henry Glen and Agnes Kendrick Musick. A World War II veteran of the United States Army, he had formerly been employed by N & W Railroad, and the Russell County School System. He also worked as a farmer and a building contractor and was friend to all that needed his service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Mildred Adaline Musick and Helen Dare Musick Owens; daughters-in-law, Nancy Kay Lee Musick and Gayle Davis Musick.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Gloria Jean Jones Musick; two daughters, Rosemary Slate and husband Brack, and Pamela Patrick; five sons, James Kent Musick Jr. and wife Donna, Joseph Bruce Musick, Mark Lee Musick, Michael Glenn Musick and wife Teresa, and Benjamin Keith Musick and wife Sharon; one sister, Betty Jo Musick Gregory; one brother, Henry Glen Musick Jr. and wife Pauline; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one expected great grandchild; special cousin, Naydene Gent.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019, in the Owens Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Larry Burton and Rev. Stephen Musick officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia, with military graveside rites conducted by the Casey-Shortt Post 9640.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
