Roy James Parrott, 87, of Lebanon, Va., went to his heavenly home on Monday, June 10, 2019, surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Ferndale, Michigan, on October 11, 1931, he was the son of the late William Otis Parrott and Bonnie Russell Kiser Parrott of Carbo, Va.

A veteran of the United States Army, Roy served his country during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Russell County School District after 28 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry Parrott, Hank Parrott, Banner Parrott and wife Grace, C.B. Parrott, Gerald Parrott, Jack Parrott; sisters, Virginia Kiser and husband James “Jim” and Lois Worrell.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Nora Lee Kiser Parrott; daughter, Gail White and friend, Ronnie Stevens; son, Norman Shannon Parrott and fiancee, Rita Kiser; one very special granddaughter, Dyzera Ratliff and husband Taylor; grandsons, Michael Parrott and wife Margaret, Dakotaka White, Isaac White, Aaron White, Avin Parrott and Layton Parrott; sister, Shirley Purcell and husband Mike; sisters-in-law, Helen Parrott, Betty Thomas, Shirley Kiser and husband Roger, Kristine Phelps and husband Paul and Kathy Lambert and husband Doug; special canine companion, Prissy.

The family would like to thank Legacy Hospice and Kathy Lambert.

Grandsons and Ron Parrott will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Dunkin, Ted Lampkins, Bobby Jo Kiser, Butch Parrott, Wayne Harris, and Mark Rose.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019, in the Owens Funeral Service Chapel with Minister Keith Hovis, Minister Ron Epling, and Minister Johnny Famer officiating with military graveside rites conducted by the Lebanon VFW Post 9864. Interment will follow in the Kiser Family Cemetery in Cleveland, Va.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

Roy drove bus 23 for the Carbo Community school students and took his job seriously. He was the best bus driver ever and took such good care of us. May God bless and keep you as a family.

We are very thankful to have had the opportunity to be a part of Roy, "Paw's" life. May God comfort each of you during this time. He will be greatly missed by us.
